David P. Luaces, DVM, Hospital Administrator

Dr. Luaces was born and raised in Redding, California. He is a 1998 graduate of Washington State University with a B.S. degree in Microbiology.  He is also a 2002 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.  Following graduation Dr. Luaces completed a rotating internship in surgery and medicine with VCA Berwyn/Franklin Park where he also met his wife Kathy.  Following his internship Dr. Luaces and Kathy moved to central California where he was practice manager and medical director of a practice for 2 years before he and Kathy decided that Chicagoland was where they wanted to call home. Dr. Luaces joined Care Animal Hospital of Libertyville in January 2006.  Since then he has become tremendously involved in caring for the feral and homeless pet community in Lake County with numerous non-profit shelters and rescue organizations.  Dr. Luaces enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, golf and the never-ending process of restoring his 1959 Chevrolet truck in his “spare time”. Dr. Luaces and Kathy currently share their home with their daughter Avery, "some" cats and Ned an Australian Shepherd.

Euan Morrison, BVMS, Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Euan Morrison was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya and then the UK. He graduated from Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine in Scotland where he met his wife Norah.  After graduating Dr. Morrison spent a year working in mixed equine and farm animal practice in James Herriot Country in the north of England. Norah worked in companion animal medicine in the same practice. This is where they adopted their first stray, an English Mastiff named Molly. After moving to the north side of Chicago, Dr. Morrison worked in companion animal medicine in River Forest, Illlinois. The pet count went up to two in Chicago when a street dog named Duke joined the family. Most recently, the Morrisons were blessed with a baby girl named Josephine. In his spare time Dr. Morrison enjoys hiking (with Duke), camping, sailing and exploring different parts of the United States with Norah and Josephine.

Lisa Whetstone, DVM, Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Whetstone returns to the Libertyville/Vernon Hills/Mundelein area after a six-year ‘detour’ that included Village Veterinary Clinic in Grayslake and March Animal Hospital in Arlington Heights.  Prior to that she practiced at [VCA] Hawthorn Animal Hospital in Vernon Hills for 19 years and is THRILLED to be back in ‘home territory’!!  Lisa was born and raised in Peoria, IL before ‘escaping’ to Champaign-Urbana, where she spent 7 years at U of I… the first three studying Microbiology and the next four earning her DVM, Class of 1981.  She met her husband of 30+ years, Don, in C-U where they worked together at the Round Barn Restaurant.  Lisa’s daughters, Kristin, 25, and Alyssa, 22, are her pride-and-joys and, fortunately, live within half an hour of home, so their family ties remain very close… and FUN!!  With the girls out of the house, the remaining ‘dependents’ at the Whetstone home include a Wirehaired Dachshund named Liberty Belle (“Libby”, who Lisa delivered by C-section on September 2, 2011… JUST before 9/11), a joyful 3 legged hound mix called Trixie, a Chihuahua, Dolce, who actually belongs to Alyssa (but possession is 95% of the law!!!) and Rodman, an aged calico kitty.  Outside of practice, Lisa enjoys relaxing with Don and the dogs (and any friends that they can snag!) at their lake house in Wisconsin, house remodeling/decorating/problem-solving, traveling, and, most of all now, spending great quality time with Kristin and Alyssa.
