About Us

Our Mission

When we established our mission and goals for Care Animal Hospital we went back to the basics-caring! What motivates us is quite simple and our mission probably obvious. As we believe, it is one thing for someone to say something and quite another to actually follow through and do.

“Caring for pets… and people too!  That’s our promise”

That is really all there is to it! It’s a family approach and we want your family to be at home with our family. We hope that every time you visit Care Animal Hospital of Libertyville your experience will be one you will want to share with your family and friends. We believe that our TEAM can provide exceptional service not only to your pet, but to you as well.

Feel free to stop by anytime for a tour, or to talk with any of our staff about your pets.

The Staff

David P. Luaces, DVM, Hospital Administrator

Dr. Luaces was born and raised in Redding, California. He is a 1998 graduate of Washington State University with a B.S. degree in Microbiology.  He is also a 2002 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.  Following graduation Dr. Luaces completed a rotating internship in surgery and medicine with VCA Berwyn/Franklin Park where he also met his wife Kathy.  Following his internship Dr. Luaces and Kathy moved to central California where he was practice manager and medical director of a practice for 2 years before he and Kathy decided that Chicagoland was where they wanted to call home. Dr. Luaces joined Care Animal Hospital of Libertyville in January 2006.  Since then he has become tremendously involved in caring for the feral and homeless pet community in Lake County with numerous non-profit shelters and rescue organizations.  Dr. Luaces enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, golf and the never-ending process of restoring his 1959 Chevrolet truck in his “spare time”. Dr. Luaces and Kathy currently share their home with "some" cats and a recently adopted Australian Shepherd named Ned.

Norah worked in companion animal medicine in the same practice. This is where they adopted their first stray, an English Mastiff named Molly. After moving to the north side of Chicago, Dr. Morrison worked in companion animal medicine in River Forest, Illlinois. The pet count went up to two in Chicago when a street dog named Duke joined the family.
